I Believe in Jesus…
Written by Annie Curtis
I believe that Jesus came into this world, fulfilling prophecy. I believe in His love, a love that is sacrificial and unconditional. I believe in His Word, because He is the Living Word who guides, corrects, and sustains us. I believe in His works, for He heals, forgives, and delivers all those who call upon His name. I believe in His death and resurrection, that He rose on the third day with all power in Heaven and on Earth. I believe He is coming back again, much sooner than we think, to gather those, including my loved ones and myself, who are expecting his return.
This is my declaration. This is my faith. This is what I believe.
A Divine Encounter: Spirit Meets Spirit
I believe in divine encounters, destiny colliding under the mighty hand of God. When Mary, the mother of Jesus, traveled to meet her cousin Elizabeth, both women were pregnant, and both were carrying purpose. The moment Mary greeted Elizabeth, there was a divine encounter. The baby leaped for joy at the presence of Jesus Christ, and Elizabeth was filled with the Holy Spirit (Luke 1:41).
I believe this was a foreshadowing of what was yet to come. Years later, the two men would meet again. John, who had been filled with the Holy Spirit from the womb, stood in the waters of the Jordan River and baptized Jesus for the remission of sins. Once again, there was a divine encounter as the Holy Spirit descended upon Jesus in the form of a dove, and Heaven responded. God spoke in an audible voice and declared, “This is my Son, whom I love, and with whom I am well pleased” (Matthew 3:17).
What began in the womb was revealed in the river. The same John, who had leaped for joy at the presence of Jesus before His birth, baptized Him, thereby fulfilling all righteousness.
The Miraculous Birth
I believe Jesus Christ was born of a virgin named Mary, chosen, but misunderstood. Though His coming was foretold long before His arrival, and many anticipated much pomp and circumstance, He entered the world in a way that was not expected: not in a palace, surrounded by ceremony or earthly splendor, but laid in a humble manger. My Savior came wrapped in strips of cloth, a cultural practice of any ordinary person.
From the very beginning, His life reflected a kingdom unlike any other, one marked not by outward status, but by divine purpose, and by a glory and strength revealed through humility rather than worldly power.
A Ministry of Love and Compassion
At a young age, Jesus knew exactly who He was. At twelve years old, He spoke with clarity and confidence, stating, “Did you not know that I must be about My Father’s business?” There was no confusion. His identity was secure, and His mission was clear. While on earth, He taught with power and authority, healing the sick, restoring the broken, and delivering those bound by darkness.
I believe that Jesus, in His human form, was without sin.
He is the Wonderful Counselor, because in Him every answer exists; the Prince of Peace, because He came into this world and reconciled God and man. He is the Everlasting Father, not a prophet, as some may say, but the Son of the living God, God in the flesh.
His statutes are desired more than fine gold and sweeter than the honeycomb (Ps. 119:103), and His love is gentle, yet powerful; kind, yet strong.
I call Him Shalom, my peace. I do not have the words to adequately describe who He is. He is holy, perfect in every way, nothing broken, nothing missing.
The Cross and the Crown
I believe Jesus gave up His life on the cross with a love beyond human comprehension. He willingly bore the full weight of our sin, taking upon Himself what was never His, so that we could be reconciled to God and restored to our rightful place.
On the hill of Golgotha, justice and mercy met; redemption was secured through His suffering. Yet death could not hold Him, nor could the grave contain the One who is life itself. On the third day, He rose with all power, glory, and dominion, conquering death, defeating hell, and triumphing over every work of the enemy, thereby declaring eternal victory to all who believe (Rev. 1:18).
The Soon Coming King
Jesus is the Bridegroom; we are His bride. We are called, chosen, and set apart for Him. I once dreamt and felt how He longs for us, in the dream it was a deep desire and a divine, unwavering love.
And just as it was in the days of Noah, when the world drifted into gross darkness and many were unaware, caught up in their own selfish desires, so it shall be again. As He ascended into Heaven, He will descend in glory and power. The Word warns us that He will come like a thief in the night, unexpectedly. In a moment, in the twinkling of an eye, we will be changed from mortality to immortality in the awesome catching away to live with Him forever.
I believe that Jesus will surely come, fulfilling every promise and gathering His own unto Himself.
I believe in Jesus.
